First United Methodist Church:

Founded in 1839, the First United Methodist Church in Minden is one of the oldest churches in our town and is a beacon of Methodist tradition in the region. Its classic brick exterior and towering steeple are iconic elements of the town’s skyline. First Baptist Church of Minden:

Founded in 1856, the First Baptist Church of Minden carries a rich legacy as one of the oldest Baptist congregations in the state. The church’s stately architecture and historic sanctuary create an atmosphere of reverence. Over the years, this community of faith has played an integral role in shaping Minden’s spiritual landscape, fostering fellowship and outreach programs that extend beyond its walls.

St. John’s Episcopal Church:

St. John’s Episcopal Church, located in the Historic Residential District of Minden, has the feel of an old English country church tucked among beautiful trees and gardens. The first service was held on June 10, 1951. The church has gone through many transformations since then. The members of St. John’s are like one big family, and many members are the descendants of the original members that came to Minden so many years ago.

Minden Presbyterian Church:

The first building was a one-room white frame building. The present sanctuary, which is Neo-Gothic architecture, was built in 1924. Since then, it has been renovated inside and out with new paint, varnish, carpet, pew cushions, and the organ reworked. Minden Presbyterian Church is also located in the Historic Residential District.

Saint Rest Baptist Church:

In an interview with Minden Press-Herald, Dr. Robby Williams gave insight into the history of St. Rest Church, a staple in the African American community of Minden.

“St. Rest is a model church for other churches in the area, Louisiana and in some cases the nation,” he said. “Historically, African-American churches were built in a ‘T’ model, with a long sanctuary and two rooms on either side. St. Rest was one of the first not built in the “T” model and one of the first to build a Christian education and activities center. This church has been the powerhouse for religious experiences and people watch what this church does to model their churches after.” St. Rest Church is the oldest African American church in Minden.

Yellow Pine Church:

Formerly known as Union Church, Yellow Pine Church was built in 1900. Preserving much of its original character, the church encapsulates its importance as a relic from a once-thriving sawmill town, now mostly relegated to memories and historical documentation. Yellow Pine Church is on the National Register of Historic Places for Webster Parish.
